Review: Don't ever get hit by someone with this insurance.
Worst experience ever! Everyone was rude, the adjuster never returned phone calls, her supervisor was not understanding nor willing to understand that my car needed an alignment, despite the fact that their insured hit my car so hard it moved from a straight parked line to a 30 degree angle.

I will never ever ever recommend this insurance company to anyone! I wish there was negative ratings on the numbers above.

I was rear ended 3 weeks ago by someone with selective insurance. They will not proceed with the claim until they speak with her but she is not answering her phone or responding to their letters. They are totalling my car which is ridiculous. My hands are tied and I am screwed and there is nothing i can do about it. I wanna cry and I know what u are going thru.

If you hit someone with Selective insurance you are in for a bad trip. First they claimed they called my insurance company (when they didn't) and told me I was not covered because I didn't pay the premium (which I did) then after getting paid they turned around and tried to sue me for the same amount as well.

Rude phone manners too.

Very bad customer service. Got hit by someone with this car insurance. Car was badly damaged. They do not want to proceed until they speak with him and this person would not even give a call or respond to their letters.

Very frustrated customer service. Taking aways hours of time to speak with the agents

Oh great - all the above sounds very familiar! We are in the process of trying to settle a claim with this company - their insured hit us in a parking lot - totally his fault, but this claim is taking FOREVER. The claims rep never returns calls or emails and they do not provide any information. My husband just had a similar incident being hit by someone with Progressive insurance and his cliam was settled and his car repaired etc. within 10 days of the accident. We are now 16 days into this with no end in sight!

I find this very interesting that I am going thru the same exact scenario. Someone with selective insurance hit me my parked car in the parking lot. He fully admitted to it and called his agent to tell them it was his fault. When I call the 1800 number for my claim, they are saying they HAVE to get his statement and they can't get a hold of him and tried calling several times. No one ever calls me back, either. I keep calling and leaving messages.

Something fishy is happening. How can ALL OF THEIR CLIENTS not answer their phone? THEY ARE LYING...it seems...

I want my car fixed...NOW

We are changing to Selective because of lower rates, bundling of policies, $back without claims per yr., and less paperwork. Was told (this a.m.) the Co. is rated "A+" (the highest rating of ins. co.s) and asked if any prob.s w/ Selective in relation to recent storm damages in WI which the "seller" thought should have been covered, but were not. The girl indicated that most claims were covered;she also personally carries Selective, and has had no prob.s with obtaining coverage. Since "Independent Agents" handle many companies, it sounds as if the agents are on-vacation or as if the companies have "shut-down." By the way, on investigating other companies complaints (housing"repairs to roofs, sumppump flood-damages coverage (cous.'s s.pump. was new in 2010, but it tipped), it appears there are Brand Name Insurance Co.s who are not "doing the job" one would expect, either. By the way, if you are renewing homeowners, check the fine print on flood-damages; storm (wind & rain) damages (another ? to as your ins. co.). We had: Ins. Brand X and coverage was changed on home-owners. Also, it is well-worth adding the umbrella-policy(regardless of your ins. choice), even if you think you may never need it (and, hope you never do). Some Co.s have quickly changed from one-owner to another, you may also wish to check-out the paper-trail of ownership which may tell you if a Co. is stable.
