| Review: | Misled by Erie Insurance I was involved in an accident in April of 2008. The person who hit me was insured by Erie. They had me sign a release authorizing them to get all of my medical records for the accident. They then sent me a release to sign to settle the accident. There would be two checks, one to settle the hospital lien and one that would cover my ambulance bill and a small settlement. I asked them if all medical records had been accounted for before signing the release. That was a big mistake-I should have had a lawyer involved! Now, two years later, there magically are ER doctor services that I am responsible for. Erie says that they didn't have those bills and it's not their problem. My feeling is that they settled as quickly as possible without doing due diligence to ensure that all medical bills will be covered. I discussed filing suit with them and was told pretty much that they knew they would get the claim dismissed-when I asked how much their attorney fees would cost-it was within a few hundred dollars of the outstanding bill-I said then why don't we make a deal? The supervisor said it's not the money, it's the principle-they won't do the right thing and pay it or even part of it, because of the "principle" of it. While they say I wasn't under duress when signing the release-I did have a lien against me for thousands of dollars from the hospital-which Erie wouldn't pay until I signed their release. Not under duress? I beg to differ. I am not asking-nor did I ever ask-for anything beyond what I deserved. My car to be fixed, my medical bills to be paid and a few lousy bucks to cover the day and a half I lost from work. Now they are giving me the runaround, the ER doc's billing department the run around and refusing to take responsibility for what they should have paid from the beginning. Shady and underhanded if you ask me-and a very convenient way for them to get out of what they owe. Simply put, they conveniently did not "know" about the bill and closed the case. How utterly disappointed I am-lesson learned, never EVER deal with an insurance claim involving injuries without a lawyer! Comments [ 2 ] |

| Review: | Erie Adjusters are unethical Through NO fault of my own, I no longer have a car--a car I love, no less. I was rear-ended by a Chevy Silverado with a plow attachment as I sat at a red light. (Thank God I had the presence of mind to bury the brake in the floor before I was pushed into the vehicle in front of me!) The accident report (as well as the truck driver) admitted 100% fault put on the Erie customer. To seal the deal, we also had an off-duty police officer as witness. After a week, and hearing nothing from Erie, we finally contacted them. They made an appointment to come look at the car--waited, no one showed up or called to cancel. Finally, a very rude Erie adjuster did show up, made a show of taking pictures and tapping things into a laptop (never turned any lights on in the garage, however. Wonder how those pictures turned out?)and totalled my 12-year-old LHS which has had immaculate care since we bought it in 1999--routine maintenance, lifetime warranty on any part on which it was available, garage kept. I never had an accident in it, and I LOVED it. There is nothing out there now like it. My line has always been that "I will drive in a manner which will protect my car from evil." Well, "evil" hit it in the behind and Erie totalled it, giving us a paltry $2300 for it. They used only one comparison as their basis for what they would give us. Kelley Blue Book estimates its worth around $4000. Ebay lists it as such as well. Searching the internet, cars of the same year, color, and mileage were going for anywhere between $4,000 and $6,000. Erie told us to have OUR insurance company repair it, if we didn't like their estimate because this could be a very "prolonged exchange", and they were not budging on their estimate. So, once again, the victim has no rights. I have never dealt with a more unprofessional and unethical company! Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Not your friend This used to be a great company and very fair, but not so now. They will never treat you as a costumer that is paying for a service. They now only treat a claim as an intrusion. Adjusters are not nice and management even worse. I have been with them for 24 years and will move to another company soon. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Adjusters tactics Erie adjusters have you get an estimate, then adjuster say it seems very high, and has their contractor give an estimate that is incomplete and has vague discription of work and much lower. Erie also ask you to get your contractor redo their estimate with detail break down of each item, after they get this "drill down of work, they then makeup some reason to deny some of the items. and if that does work for them, they then say that they will on only their contractor estimate, even their contractor estimate is no good.
