Review: Progressive sucks
I had less then 75% of cosmetic damage to my bike and they would not fix it. They come up with some number and said it was totaled. I had to buy my bike back and turn over my title for a salvage tittle. Then the tittle department of the same company sent my original title back to me and it was them that said that it was less then 75%totaled.

Review: The most dishonest auto insurance company.
I had Progressive auto insurance for more than 10 years. My wife had an accident back in June 2010. She was struck on the side by a irresponsible driver, no license and no insurance. My wife had a broken ribs, broken ankle, broken pelvis, concussion on liver and kidney and they had to remove spleen and pancreas. She spent 12 days in the hospital, 1 day in ER, 2 days in ICU and 10 days in recovery room. She's been in physical therapy since then until today, Feb 15, 2011 and still more to come.
She is disabled, I been having to work from home with the danger of loosing my job, I work and take care of my children's education and home shores and many other things that she was capable of doing.
When I submitted the claim to progressive, the only thing I got back from them was finger. Not a single penny was paid. The looked for all possible excuses to deny payment, they used the most ridiculous reasons for not paying for anything. ER, ICU, Hospital, physical therapy, wound care, recovery room services, surgery services, orthopaedic services, pharmacy expenses, disability items like wheelchair, walker, hospital electric bed, etc, etc, etc, all 250K dollars and didn't get a penny from Progressive. Progressive is the most dishonest company ever. I don't recommended Progressive even to my worst enemy.

I was paying $68 a month with them and got the minimum coverage, if I wanted more it could cost double the monthly fee. Geico gave me full coverage and 500K accident coverage, 10K coverage, any incidental/accidental (broken window, stolen stereo, etc) coverage for my vehicle with a deductible of $500, car rental reimbursement and a lot more FOR $55 a month.
Progressive is reliable and all you see in their commercials is false. they will not be there for you if have an accident. The same goes for Fred Loya Insurance. They are both the same, SO YOU TAKE THE RISK or wait until you have an accident (God forbid) to probe what I said is true??? Stay away from Progressive because the only you will get is freaking laser scan from that stupid lady in their commercial, no refunds.

Review: Progressive was lowest with most coverage
Just wanted to share my experience. I was with Travelers for 10 years and thought surely I was getting preferred rates, right? Wrong! A friend noticed my statement on the kitchen counter one day and said "Wow, you really should look into switching - those rates are high for what little coverage you're getting." So, I went online and found a comparison site called GoLowQuotes.com and filled out a short form. I soon had several quotes sent to me and Progressive was the clear winner as they offered twice the coverage I had been carrying yet was almost half the premium!

But that was my case, a different carrier may be better in your case. That's why you need to compare - and compare regularly!

I haven't made any claims with them yet so that aspect is still an unknown, but for now, I'm satisfied with being with a top carrier for an affordable premium.

Review: Lack of information and misrepresentation of law
I was at fault and it was a small ding to a car. I was going to settle matters without filing a claim. The other party agreed. The person I hit went to get an estimate. I thought was very high for the damage done-- a ding the size of a quarter and some scrapes to the paint job. I found another shop for a second opinion and the other person agreed to a second estimate. I also called Progressive to get information and asked if I reported the incident, would I have to follow through with a claim. The rep told me no-- that an adjustor could quote me a price and then I could decide whether or not to file or pay out of pocket. So, I reported it and a claims specialist followed up... got all the info from me about who was hit, how it happened, etc. I asked specifically again for a claim not to be filed until I have all the details. I was told not to worry about it... everything was going to be alright. Half hour later, the person I hit sends me a text message saying "thanks... they are even covering a rental and will get the car fixed tomorrow." What??? But you told me that I could decide whether or not to file a claim or pay out of pocket. I called claims line again and talked to the same specialist who told me that, when a claim is filed, it is the party not at fault who gets to decide where to get the car fixed, how the damages get paid, and the rest of the details. I told him that's not what he and I discussed, and that's not how I had agreed for it to proceed... The accident had happened 2 weeks prior. We didn't get a police report, had not called insurance companies, nothing because both the other party and I had agreed it was not necessary. I had asked specifically in my phone calls to Progressive about protocol if a claim is filed and was told not to worry... I would be notified of the price and then I could decide what to do about paying. Well, they tell me now that by law once an "adverse party" comes forward, there is nothing I can do. So... even if it's a small ding, the person can choose to have it covered by Progressive and not me.. the person gets a rental car for undetermined amount of time... they can provide estimates wherever and I just accept whatever is decided by Progressive and the other party... No voice... no say...and I the customer cannot do a darn thing now... Thanks Progressive... way to go... I asked a simple question so that I could make an educated decision as a consumer... All I got in the last phone call was "sorry we didn't tell you everying. There's nothing we can do now." I think you should do something about it. Listen to your customer service tapes, hear the wrong information that was provided to me and cover any repercussions that have evolved because of your poor customer service.

Review: Worst Insurance worse people
This is a very cheap and worse company. I dont have progressive insurance but some one hit my parked car in a parking lot and handed over his progressive insurance and left the scene. I called this stupid progressive and they said ok bring your car for estimates. I took a day off and brought my car to them and they took over an hour and gave me the estimate and after that nothing heard from them. I called them the next week and they said that the person who hit your car is not answering their phones.
Well its not my problem if he is not answering your phones I talked to them but very rude representatives over there. They are ready to hang up every time you call them. I lost my car rear bumper I lost my time and finally they said they cannot do any thing. However they said that they will cancel his insurance but they never did and there is no proof for that, I am so frustrated as I gave them all the information and every requirements but no use its waste of time and money. Keep away from progressive and I would say people should not buy such insurance, as insurance means you are insured or some one is insured if you do some thing wrong but this company has no ethics and rules all they are doing is a cheap business just dont buy insurance from them.

Review: Can't belive this!
I have had Progressive ins. for years to cover my motorcycles. I,unfortunatly, had to make a theft claim on my bike. I was already upset to find that my bike had been stolen, then Progressive starts their run around. After Four long months fighting with progressive, I have still recieved no benifits. The people that I have talked to representing their company have been rude, and misleading. I have filed a complaint with the state board of insurance, and will be filing a law suit as well. They made it abundantly clear that they would rather lose customers than pay claims!

Review: PROGRESSIVE IS RIDICULAS
I was recently stopped on a freeway and out of nowhere some guys slams into the back of my car. My back winshield shatters and ruins the back of my car! and my dog kennel was in the back. I was extreamly lucky I had put him in his doggy seat belt up front or he would have been dead. So the guy is driving someone elses car who is insured by progressive. we set up the whoel thing and I end up going into the hospital and a chiropractor because I m in pain. they payed for my car just fine bought me a new dog kennel and then when it came to the bodily injury claims rep everything went down hill they offered to pay for my medical and then $1000 for anything else so I sign the paper. and the next thing I know there closing my claim only paying my medical and never writing me a check for $1000. I have a copy of the contract still not sure what to do.

I had Progressive auto for years and everythng was fine untill you are injured in an accident.
In MIchigan you have to deal with your insurance company not that of the person who caused the accident and Progressive is the worst out there.
Unpaid doctor and Hospital bills.
They do everything they can to deny covering as much as they can even if it involves making up lies and trying to say you had previous injuries witch i did not. Im not the type to run out and hire a lawyer but i had to to protect myself from my own insurance company.

Review: Great customer service, claims service good too
A few years ago I finally had to use my car insurance for something other than windshield chip repair. I was hit in the right rear quarter panel of my car by a pickup truck while turning left at a traffic-light controlled intersection. I had a green light, had my turn signal on, the truck had their turn signal on to turn right (we were both turning the same direction). Wrongly assuming the driver of the other vehicle would follow basic traffic laws and turn in to their nearest lane I proceeded to make my turn.

I was 9/10 of the way through the intersection when I heard a loud crunch, the sound of glass breaking, and my car being pushed to the side momentarily. I got out expecting my back glass to be gone but it was "just" the tail light and quarter panel crushed in. Cops came and did not give the other driver a breathalyzer even though they admitted to being at a sushi bar, the driver was slurring a bit and walking funny, was not her vehicle, and was from out of state.

The other driver told the cop she had to swing wide due to the size of her vehicle (problem #1, that does not permit you to enter other lanes of traffic). She was cited for improper right turn. I was cited for failure to yield. Apparently the cop is like most other cops in this city in that they don't pull anyone over for anything even when it's done right in front of them (doing red light running citations at a stop light, they'll watch people blow through the stop lights well after going red...no tickets). Anyway, I was told that the other driver had a green turn ARROW to turn right...I had no way of knowing that.

I thought about fighting it but figured the money for a lawyer and time for court wasn't worth the money. Actually, I did end up almost fighting it until I got to the courthouse and didn't feel like sitting around so I just paid the fine and left.

Progressive, as usual, had a PERSON answer the phone almost immediately and they were very friendly. An adjuster came out within a day or two to look at the damage. I then went out and got three quotes from local body shops (some were on Progressive's list, others weren't) and took it to one I knew did good work (also happened to be in Prog's network). Had my car back within a couple weeks as the body shop had some difficulty procuring a few replacement parts.

Then, without notice, about 2-3 months later I received a check in the mail for 75% of my $500 deductible ($3500+ in damage). Progressive also did their own accident investigation and put me down as "not at fault". I'm guessing that there was some background "maneuvering" in which Progressive threatened a lawsuit and caused the other insurance company to admit to 3/4 fault. Not positive but is the only thing I could think of.

The downside...my premium got bumped up about a year later for no apparent reason. I called CS and spoke to the CS agents (friendly as usual) who, after about 20 minutes of checking in to my files, figured out that after Progressive's annual review of my DMV records I had the "fail to yield" citation and that's what caused it to go up. No big deal, I didn't fight it, I knew it would be on my record, and I knew my premium would go up. I just wanted to know WHY...and to be perfectly honest I went back through some paperwork I had been sent and saw where they listed the moving violation when previously I had none. That should have clued me in ha!

So recently I checked other insurance company quotes since I'm debating a new vehicle and discovered that I can get a 30% reduction in premium through a few other companies even WITH the accident and citation. I have been with Progressive for three years, I will call and tell them what I have found...if they want to reduce my premium and keep me as a customer, great. If not, easy come...easy go.

Review: AWFUL COMPANY
Well, where to start...

Another progressive driver fell asleep at the wheel and hit my husband and two sons (ages 2 and 4) head on. He was in a truck, they were in a very small compact car. My 4 year old needed to be flown to shock trauma. Our nightmare began when they would not stop calling me for a "statement" while I was sitting by the bedside of my son. He did come home after 1 week. Next, I gathered ALL information about the contents of our car to submit it to progressive. This is when I found out the other progressive driver was UNDERINSURED! Progressive would not cover the contents of our vehicle at ALL! They say in our state our policy only has coverage for UNINSURED, not UNDERINSURED - sorry! So, we took a $3,000 loss because of that.

There is now a lien against me from my health insurance company. Progressive is NOT paying most of the bills. We are getting ready to go after my husband's policy because of his UNDERINSURANCE! I am 100% confident they will screw us!!!

DO NOT USE THEM - THEY ARE AWFUL!

Review: Horrible Experience with Progressive Insurance
Just wanted to vent my frustrations out with Progressive auto insurance. Here's my story...
Guy backs into my car, his trailor hitch hits my car and leaves a well sized dent in my bumber. He leaves the area, after i told him i need his insurance and driver's license so i called the police. The police gave me a case# which i presented to my insurance company, Progressive, and it takes them a month to reach a final decision. They decide to repair it, instead of replacing my bumper, telling me it will be in "like new" condition. how is that right? a guy hits my car, we both have insurance, yet my insurance company said that a new bumper is out of the question? i received phone calls from a gentlemen name Justin who treated my as if i was the guy that hit my car. i escalated and said that i would like to speak with his supervisor. i speak with a guy name Patrick and he blows me off as well. i'm a manager in a customer facing industry, and i know how important customer service is. from my experience, i had a horrible time with Progressive, and worst of all, i get treated like it was my fault to begin with. **DO NOT CHOOSE PROGRESSIVE FOR THE FOLLOWING REASON***
1. horrible customer service
2. they raised my insurance rate without even telling me by phone or mail, which i think would be the decent thing to do
3. even though someone hit my car, they were worried about minimizing the loss for the guy that hit my car and left
4. they give you phone numbers to call if you WANT to escalate to the next level- why was i doing their job???
5. very corporate mentality- Patrick tells an autobody shop that is very well known in the Peninsula (San Francisco area) how to do his job repairing?!?! outrageous!!!! the owner from the autobody shop is told how to do things, yet when he asked Patrick if he evern fixed a bumper before, the answer was obviously no, yet he still acts like he knows how to do it? are you kidding me? that's me telling Tiger Woods how to do his job because i've watched golf for so many years on tv.

Review: Most Amazing Customer Service!
I would not normally advertise for a company but I have recently had a really amazing customer service experience I have a lot to say about my recent experience with my car insurance company, Progressive I LOVE PROGRESSIVE after my car wreck last Thursday I was in a lot of pain and very stressed about what would happen to my car, my health, the impact it would have on my daily life, bills, medical costs etc.. etc... thank you to Progressive my life is so much more pleasant and less stressful at this point I called to make a claim the next day with their claims department. I was not on hold very long and did not have to talk to 20 million computer voices while pressing buttons before I could speak to a person. The gentleman was very courteous and went above and beyond in his empathy and consideration. He expressed concern for my well being and the outcome of the accident. Sure this is his job, but phone service representatives usually just do what is required of them with very little positive affect in their voice or attitude. He asked what had happened and the whole time had a very sincere concerned tone "Oh wow, that is awful... you are so lucky it wasn't worse...thank goodness you are ok etc... " regardless of his actual concern he was very calming and helpful he provided any contact numbers I may need and explained the full process of taking care of my claim. He located the nearest body shop for me and called them with me on the line to make the earliest appointment at my convenience. He constantly made sure everything was clear, simple, and without any problems. He provided me with a number to call him directly if I should have any issues. It continued to be an easy and smooth process... When I arrived at the body shop the progressive representative promptly called the rental service then proceeded to go over the damages of the car with me while taking clear photos and checking every little detail. They listened carefully and also seemed concerned. The representative from Hertz arrived very quickly and drove me to the rental location. They were also friendly and clearly explained every part of the rental and what part Progressive covered as well as what my options were with gas, daily insurance etc... Daily insurance for the rentals was usually $25.00 to cover any damage that may occur to the vehicle while in your possession. However, because I was there through Progressive, it only cost me $12.99 daily. This meant that no matter what happened to the vehicle, from a small scratch to it being totaled, I was only responsible for that $12.99 and not held liable. Progressive would also call and extend the rental for me if necessary, so I simply get the keys to a car equivalent to my own or more and drive it for as long as I need. I ended up with an 08 Ford Fusion with dash board controls on the steering wheel, a navigation system, sirius satellite radio, and an in dash 6cd player :) and get to drive it for the length of my repair at no cost to me accept gas and the optional daily insurance. and there is more... Saturday another representative from Progressive called me. This time an equally kind and considerate woman. She was the one to handle my injuries and personal health coverage. She explained that Progressive will cover 80% of all costs including my x-rays, ambulance ride, ER fees, Cat Scan, and even prescriptions. They would file all the paperwork with the hospital then send paperwork to my health insurance company for the remaining balance. All I had to do was. send them copies of my prescription receipts. She expressed concern and told me not to "over-do-it" at work and to call her if I needed help with anything. She also told me she would call me in a few days to see how I was feeling. Even better, Progressive is reimbursing me for the days I missed at work due to the accident, all I had to do was send copies of my last two paychecks, they even phoned my manager at work for me. This is not my first positive experience with Progressive, last time I just needed some body work after a car battery was left in the road and destroyed my front fender...they had the same great service with a rental...but this time with the medical issues they just knocked my socks off with amazing customer service. in short... if it is in your budget to switch car insurance companies, I strongly suggest looking into rates for Progressive. They are one of the less expensive companies and they also have included pet insurance for your pets traveling with you along with motorcycle, RV, Boat, and other types of insurance. their kindness and amazing guest service has won me over it may be their job, but they do it well and I feel safer and more can at ease because of it ..so anyway... if you want to be worry free in a situation that be devastating, Progressive can help!

Review: Worst Service Ever
I had an accident where my car was considered a total loss. Progressive undervalued my car and the adjuster lied and said I couldn't get an independent assessment. When I argued with him, he started yelling at me and calling my car "that thing." I talked to his supervisor, who didn't care in the least. I then had a meeting with him, where I stood in a shared cubicle for an hour because I was never offered a chair. I guess I made him angry, because it's now been over a month since my accident and I have yet to receive a check. Never use them- they're not that cheap and they like to rip off their customers.
